Shibori part 1















Shibori is an ancient resist method of patterning cloth by compressing it in various ways before dyeing it. In this intrductory workshop, you will look at examples of traditional Japanese and African shibori textiles on silk and cotton. You will then learn an Arashi shibori technique on silk using pleating, twisting and pole-wrapping and then dyeing the silks by hand to produce intricately coloured and patterned scarf lengths.

Time: 10.00 until 4.30pm.

Day: Any day by arrangement.
