Japanese Rozome Techniques















This course is an introduction to some of the fascinating Japanese silk painting techniques using wax resists and controlled brush-dyeing. On this three day course you will be introduced to Rö-gaki (wax drawing); Seki-dashi (barrier resist); Rö-kata (wax stencil); Rö-fubuki (wax snowstorm); Rö etching (scraffito - scratching); Shike-biki (coarse brush trailing); Hi-kizome (background dyeing) and Bö-kashi (graduated shading). You will be shown traditional Japanese materials, brushes and equipment and will work with steam-fix dyes.

Time: 10.00am until 4.30pm.
